Simmzy’s in Manhattan Beach – Pliny the Younger Tapping

Monday, February 27, 2012 – 5pm!!

Yes, you heard it right! If you still have not yet had a chance to taste great triple IPA, here’s another chance. They will be tapping starting at 5pm.

From Russian River Brewing Co.

“Pliny the Younger, the man, was Pliny the Elder’s nephew and adopted son. They lived nearly 2,000 years ago! Pliny the Elder is our Double IPA, so we felt it was fitting to name our Triple IPA after his son. It is almost a true Triple IPA with triple the amount of hops as a regular I.P.A. That said, it is extremely difficult, time and space consuming, and very expensive to make. And that is why we don’t make it more often! This beer is very full-bodied with tons of hop character in the nose and throughout. It is also deceptively well-balanced and smooth.”

If you’re as big of a fan of this beer as we are then you wont want to miss this event! What a way to complete our Bourbon on 1st Street month with one of the first and few masters of Barrel-aged beer. Never mind the name change this is still the same world class English Barleywine known as Abacus! Did we mention in our eyes the best damn Barleywine in the US! So lets toast together and drink some ABACUS!

Here is the Firestone Walker’s description of this deep ruby beauty:

“Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.”
